National Pumpkin Weigh-Off
Online Grower Registration closes September 25th at 5 PM - $30 covers ALL entries by each grower. **NOTE: If entering only the "Future Farmer" category (ages 6-17), you do not need to register, simply show up with your entry!**

About the event
Grower Registration - $30 covers ALL entries by each grower
Online registration will close on September 25th at 5 PM. After that, you may register onsite the day of the event. Registering onsite does not guarantee a swag bag.
**NOTE: If entering only the "Future Farmer" category (ages 6-18) you do not need to register, simply show up with your pumpkin entry by 9am on September 28th!**
Each adult grower entry of an Atlantic Giant pumpkin will receive:
- A swag bag containing, but not limited to, one free official weigh-off T-Shirt, 25 Fun Tickets for Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm attractions (a $25 value), a Hard Rock Hotel & Casino sling bag, & other items from local merchants as donated.
- Two tickets to the VIP Meet-the-Growers reception on Friday, September 27th, 7pm, at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
- Breakfast on-site at Bishop's Pumpkin Farm the morning of the competition, thanks to the American Legion!
- One free ticket to the National Pumpkin Awards Dinner, at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino the evening of the competition, Saturday, September 28th, 6:30pm. Additional dinner tickets are available for purchase for $40. Failure to attend the Awards Dinner may result in forfeiture of prize money.
OFFICIAL RULES
- All entries must be grown by the grower contestant who must be present at the weigh-off
- Pre-registration is requested. There is a $30 registration fee for entries made prior to September 28th. Entries at the door on September 28th will have a $40 registration fee. This helps in covering the swag bag and other expenses of the weigh-off. Only one registration fee is required per grower and covers all entries by that grower.
- All entries must be in healthy and undamaged condition. No rot, holes, and cracks through the cavity, nor any chemical residue, or soft spots are permitted in accordance with rules set forth by GPC.
- No foreign substance of any kind (oil, baby lotion, wax or other such substance) may be used on the pumpkin.
- All entries must be in line for drop off by 9 am on September 28th. Failure to do so results in disqualification from competition.
- All entries must qualify according to the rules set forth by GPC at https://gpc1.org/about/rules/
- Pumpkins may not be entered in more than one weigh-off.
- The weigh-off will be conducted according to all GPC rules.
- All pumpkins will be weighed free of any tarps, straps, lifting rings or other foreign objects.
- Squash will compete with pumpkins for weight.
- All produce will be inspected and unloaded by our very experienced crew.
- All weighing will be conducted on scales certified by the Yuba/Sutter County Department of Weights and Measures.
- In the event of a tie for any position the entrants will split the money for that prize position.
- To receive the $30,000 world record prize, the grower must break and hold the world record at the conclusion of the National Pumpkin Weigh Off. If two or more growers happen to break the world record during the event, the prize money would go to the grower of the heaviest pumpkin and the runner up will receive second place.
- All winners of any prize MUST ATTEND the Awards Dinner at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (about 6 miles from Bishop’s) which will start at 6:30 pm on September 28th.
- The top 5 winners in the Pumpkin Category are required to remain at Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm until 4 pm Sunday September 29. Security will be provided at Bishop’s.
- Pumpkins not in the Top 5 will be re-loaded to the grower’s vehicle at some point in the afternoon (Likely around 4 pm) on September 28th.
- All decisions by the Judges, and confirmed by the Site Representative for GPC, are final.
- The National Pumpkin Weigh-off, Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm, event sponsors, volunteers and agents will not be responsible for any injury or damage associated with the weigh-off
- The National Pumpkin Weigh-off, it’s sponsors and agents may use photographs and videos of, stories about, and the actual entries themselves for publicity and promotion of this weigh-off, future weigh-offs and associated events
THE HOWARD DILL AWARD
In order to keep with the criteria for the Howard Dill Award, the Award will be judged by a pre-selected panel of judges. They will apply uniform standards and score each qualifying pumpkin to determine the winner of the Howard Dill Award.
